1. BAND INFORMATION (both current
and previous)
1.a) Before Nine Inch Nails
Trent was in the following bands, previous to the creation of Nine Inch Nails (in probable order):
Option 30 (a band back in Mercer, PA)
The Urge (called a cover band, which implies they covered other artists)
The Innocents (One record called Living On The St. was released. This have been his first Cleveland band)
Slam Bam Boo (Trent did Keyboards, Programming and backing vocals)
Lucky Pierre (this was Kevin Mcmahon's band, the guy behind Prick. Trent played keyboards, live only, somewhere in the 84-85 period. It now also turns out he appeared on the 1988 Communique EP, see listing below)
The Exotic Birds (see known release below. The band "The Problems", from the movie "The Light of Day movie" may have been the same band.)
1.b) During NIN
Probable Order:
Trent recorded with Pigface as a rotating member. Trent played with Revolting Cocks during a tour.
1.c) And now NINE INCH NAILS IS TRENT REZNOR!
Currently, the live band, and hopefully the band which will appear on the next album, is composed of:
Chris Vrenna(drums, official 2nd member of the band) Robin Finck(guitars, on a temporary leave of absence) Danny Lohner(guitars, bass, keyboard) James Woolley(keyboardist through most of the 94-95 tour) Charlie Clouser(keyboardist for conclusion of 95) Sean Beavan(sound man, who I have been told could be considered the sixth live band member)
Past members include:
Richard Patrick(guitars for 89-91 tours. now in Filter, with Brian 'Moonking' Liesegang, who also has done production work with NIN) Jeff Ward(drums, rest in peace. Also in Ministry, Lard, Low Pop Suicide) Martin Atkins(played drums in a few shows.)
PRETTY HATE MACHINE ERA (HALO 1,2,3,4): Here Nine Inch Nails was largly a one man band headed by Trent Reznor, and under the record label TVT Records. Music style reflects true "industrial" music, heavy synthetics, nothing that heavy, but a general variety from soft ("something i can never have") to hard ("sin" or "head like a hole"). BROKEN ERA (HALO 5,6): Nine Inch Nails had just started up its deal with Interscope records and Nothing records (created by NIN). This music, with almost no exceptions is very heavy (in that metal/hard rock realm) and never lets up ("wish" or "gave up"). Trent moved in this period of time more away from synthetic drums and keyboard to more realistic drums and guitar. THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL ERA (HALO 7,8,9,10): Where NIN got much of its popularity from the now famous NIN song "closer". Here we see a pretty large variety of music, much greater than Pretty Hate Machine (from "hurt" to "march of the pigs").
